2023年12月16日NHK播出的節目《行家本色 吉卜力與宮崎駿的2399天》，耗時七年追蹤動畫大師宮崎駿新作《蒼鷺與少年》的創作過程。《與夢前行 宮崎駿：蒼鷺與少年創作全紀錄》是節目追加未公開畫面，並再剪輯的完全版。

How was Miyazaki Hayao's Oscar-winning The Boy and the Heron created? This two-hour documentary records what happened at Studio Ghibli over a seven-year period. In the journey towards completing The Boy and the Heron, director Miyazaki and producer Suzuki Toshio were often at odds, pushing each other to greater levels of "madness" to create an unprecedented masterpiece. Their relationship is much like that of protagonist Mahito and the Grey Heron in the film. Together, they embark on a great adventure. The documentary is re-edited from the program "Professional Ghibli and Miyazaki Hayao's 2399 Days" aired on NHK in December 2023.
